In EN/ IEC 612282 is introduced an equivalency code for tanning appliance fluorescent ultraviolet lamps to ensure lamp replacement of equivalent type which does not change the type-rating of the product.
This standard requires that the spectral irradiance produced by the lamp under test be measured at a distance of no less than 10cm, corrected to 25cm and at intervals of 1 nm from 250 nm to 400 nm, and weighted against the CIE erythemal and the NMSC spectral weighting functions to compute the eyrthemal irradiance 250-400nm, the long-wave UV NMSC irradiance (320-400nm) and the short-wave NMSC irradiance (250-320nm)
The equivalency code should take the following form, "Wattage–Reflector type code–UV code", for example:

Nominal lamp wattage | - B for lamps with a broad reflector angle > 230°;
- N for lamps with a narrow reflector angle < 200°;
R for lamps with a regular reflector 200°≤α≤230°
O for non-reflector lamps; | = X/Y
X = total erythema effective UV irradiance over the range 250 nm – 400 nm, in mW.m-2 rounded to the nearest integer
Y = ratio of the NMSC effective UV irradiances ≤320 nm and > 320 nm, rounded to one decimal place.
*The effective values are at 25 cm distance and under conditions of optimum UV irradiance. |
