608 Constant Current Power Supply

The 608 is a constant current power supply specifically designed for used with stabilised light sources and calibration standard sources (eg. quartz halogen, xenon, Nernst element, etc.)

Max. output current
12A d.c.
Max. output power
250W
Max. compliance voltage
35V d.c.

The unit has a USB interface which allows full computer control, a keypad for manual use and an LCD display.

In Manual mode the user can enter a current level with a 0.01Amp precision using the numeric keypad. Using the “C” function key this level can be confirmed and then switched on. The “D” function key switches the power supply back to 0 Amps. Function keys “A” and “B” contain user / factory preset levels and ramping profiles. These presets are all alterable by the user for their specific requirements. Ramping profiles for example can be entered to ramp from any given current level to another in any given time. The ramping can also set to be linear interpolated or exponential functions.

All the functionality can be controlled via the pc including switching the power supply on and off. This power can be integrated with Benwin+ to allow for the software to switch the power supply on, or change the current level during or between scans.

The 608 comes with example software to allow for quick and easy setup. The USB interface is common to Windows XP and needs no extra drivers. For integration of the 608 into customer solutions the 608 also comes with an easy to use windows DLL.

608V Constant Voltage Power Supply

Whilst most light sources employed in spectrophotometry and spectroradiometry are best run in constant current mode there are some applications requiring constant voltage operation (voltage regulated). For example, when testing lamps in the automotive sector the standards specify voltage conditions. The functionality of 608V is identical to the 608 except operating voltage is eneterd with a 0.1V precision.

Max. output voltage
30V d.c.
Max. output power
250W
Max. current output
13Amps d.c.
